Zines As An Alternative to Social Media Fatigue

I come to zines as someone who has published zines for over 30 years. So I live in that space.

I also brought my zine obsession to the online digital space very early on. As a computer science major, I was active on bulletin board systems before the world wide web was really a thing.

We uploaded digital zines to BBS’s or via list servers or to space on AOL or CompuServ or Prodigy and Delphi…

Facebook Instagram, Pinterest and others dictate a different way of accessing zines which present obstacles along with improvements to that access.

This video talks about why zines should replace your Instagram feed.

Discover Zines is a blog by Briyan Frederick Baker (GAJOOB, Tapegerm Collective) about how zines engage communities of all kinds, whether its local, family, fans, interests, demographics, business, organizations or very personal purposes. Zines provide an authentic, direct way to connect with people on any subject.
